[ Leonard indulges for a little longer. Her kisses do tend to be incredibly distracting, and she manages to steer his mind away from the rain for a while. But then the sound of drops hitting the lake and the foliage as it approaches, he's forced to break the kiss. ]
Right. We should... find shelter. I'd rather not get soaked, if I can help it.
[ Indulge is just the right word, because damnit it feels good to be out in the open air and away from the ship for a little while, feel the soil under her feet and the breeze against her skin.
And having Leonard pressed up against her isn't so damn bad, either. She lingers in close even as he pulls away, the words barely out of his mouth when the cool drops of rain start to fall overhead. ]
C'mon, Grumpy. The forest should give us a little cover... [ She says, grabbing his hand and tugging him back towards the trees. ]
[ They'll have to find some time off to enjoy next time they get shore leave, hopefully on an actual populated planet with a comfortable rooming situation. Not that this isn't nice, but it's not the ideal scenario either.
That said, he takes her hand and follows into the forest. The rain's looking a little heavy, so he's hoping to spot something similar to a cave that gives them some proper cover. ]
[ Hell, maybe the next shore leave they can actually go out to dinner together. Have a proper date out in the open, even if she does enjoy their nights in tucked away in his quarters.
Her fingers intertwine with his as the rain starts to get heavier, and she scans the forest quickly before pointing out a huge fallen tree not far away. The thing is enormous and slanted enough to provide them good cover, and she tugs him underneath just in time to see the downpour really thicken. ]
Well. You didn't get... totally soaked? [ She glances over at him hopefully. ]
[ Oh, he's absolutely going to ask her out, at the very least. He's hoping at this point she won't be reticent to be seen together in public, so he's a lot more confident about asking.
Anyway, at the moment they have something else to worry about. He curses a little when he gets some of the rain on his uniform, but fortunately they make it under the tree before they're actually soaked. ]
No. I'm— fine, [ He looks over himself, then at her, managing a small smile. ] Surprisingly, not the worst date I've been in.
[ One of these days, she'll find a way to get comfortable with it. With all the shit in her past, all the secrecy, the lies, it's taken a while for to accept that her life could be... normal. As normal as life can get, when you've joined Starfleet, anyway.
In any case, she's never really minded the rain. Enjoys the peacefulness of it, the way it hisses across the lake, the smell of earth and leaves. She glances over at him, smiling and reaching out to muss up the little rain sprinkled into his hair. ]
Thank God for that. Don't know what I would've done otherwise.
[ Life with Starfleet has never truly felt normal. Case in point, their current predicament. Not quite the usual scenario he'd expect to get while out on a walk with the woman he's into, but he can hardly complain. Hey, at least they didn't crash and she's not sporting some nasty injury, so there's that. ]
Mm, guess you'd have to make it up to me later somehow.
[ He chuckles when she shakes the water out of his hair, brushing his own fingers through the damp curls of her ponytail. ]
[ Oh, he knows something's up the moment she grins at him like that. Regardless, even as he's half-expecting her to do something like that, he still doesn't fight it or try to stop her.
The rain that pours down on them immediately still makes him wince slightly, but he ends up laughing, hands going up to try and shield his eyes, but to no avail. ]
[ There’s a flicker of skepticism in his eyes just before she tugs him out into the downpour and she can’t help but laugh at the cold rain that drenches them both immediately. Grinning from ear to ear, she loops her arms around his shoulders to keep him close and steals another kiss. ]
[ But then he doesn't look particularly upset either. He's grinning from ear to ear when she kisses him, his hands resting on her sides. They're both soaked now, so no point worrying about shelter now. ]
You will definitely have to make it up to me if I catch the common cold from this, though.
[ Just kidding, who even catches the common cold anymore. ]
[ She's soaking in that grin of his, the way his hair sticks to his forehead as the rain pours down on them both. The weight of his hands on her hips and the brush of his lips against hers. ]
Mm, I'll nurse you back to health just fine, Doc. Don't you worry. [ She smirks, tiptoeing up to deepen the kiss, her jaw dropping so she can drag her tongue against his. ]
[ He only manages a hum at first in response, since she effectively distracts him with that kiss, and he's in no rush to break it. He parts his lips a little wider and tilts his head, sweeping his tongue back against hers, fingers curling firmer into her sides, holding her close. ]
Thought I was supposed to be the doctor.
[ Not that he minds her tending to him, honestly. But now that they're soaked, they probably should go back to the group soon-ish, because this isn't going to stay a pleasant experience for very long. ]
[ That kiss leaves her aching for more, teeth dragging over his lower lip as she clutches his shirt in her fists to keep him flush up against her. ]
Even doctors need taking care of sometimes.
[ The cold seeps in through their clothes now that they’re drenched in it, and she slips her hands underneath the hem of his shirt to keep them warm, lips pressing kisses down along his jaw and neck. ]
Well, you do have some experience with that, I'll give you that much.
[ And she's done fairly well with it, too. Granted, right now might not be the best time to 'take care' of him they're so unsubtly implying here, but he's also not stopping those wandering hands either. Not just yet, anyway. ]
Mm, yeah? [ She grins up at him, her hands slipping down to tug at his belt. ] I do take pretty good care of you, don't I?
[ So they're stuck in a little rain. At least they're alone and mostly out of danger. What better time than now to take a little care of each other, right? ]
[ That look never fails to get a good laugh out of her, arms slipping around his middle before she pecks him on the lips again. ]
You're no fun.
[ It's a light tease, of course, because they do know how to have plenty of fun - even if she might have to goad it out of him every once in a while. Still, his suggestion gets an arch of her eyebrow. ]
There must be some other reason you're so into me, then.
[ He shoots her a crooked, far too amused smile, a raised eyebrow that goes nearly all the way up to his hairline— especially when she adds that last bit. ]
You tell me. I'm sure you're the one with all the kinky locations in mind.
[ One eyebrow arches first, then the other, followed by a sound that's close to a surprised snort. ]
Captain's chair? Absolutely not. [ Even if they somehow managed to get the bridge all to themselves, Leonard would never do such a thing. Figures she would be into it, though. (Maybe she can talk him into a little adventure on a holosuite, someday.) ]
How about we start with something lighter, then... we go from there? [ He hums, hands squeezing her sides briefly. ] You're always welcome to drop by the med bay when I'm on a late night shift. We don't tend to get a whole lot of people around.
[ He really does wear his emotions on his sleeve, doesn't he? Her grin spreads at the reactions that so quickly spread across his features, another laugh escaping her as she squeezes him around the middle. ]
C'mon, you don't think the Captain's hooked up in that chair at least a few times?
[ She smiles up at him, tiptoeing to peck him on the lips. ] Fine. I'll settle for the med bay. You can, uh, give me a thorough examination.
Frankly, I'd like to believe he's got more respect for it than that. But even if he had, that doesn't mean I'm fine with it.
[ Which, just for the record, he definitely isn't. She is very pretty and can be pretty persuasive, but Leonard has a few lines he won't cross. Captain's chair? Totally out of bounds, sorry Sara. ]
Oh, don't you worry. I plan on examining every... last... inch of you. [ He runs his palms over her ass, more of a light, teasing touch than a grope, pulling back up to her waist with a smug little grin. ] So I reckon we better find a way back to the Enterprise sooner rather than later.

Absolutely. But certainly not out in the pouring rain.
[ He may be up for some adventurous stuff but this is pushing a little on crazy. ]
no subject
Not even under that tree?
[ She grins, tugging him back under the cover of the trunk. ]
no subject
Absolutely not. We're not fucking while soaked and in the middle of a pouring rain.
[ He raises his eyebrows, shrugging. ]
I'll be more than happy to make it up to you once we're back on the ship. Even might be up for doin' it somewhere... riskier. If you feel like it.
[ She's always been more adventurous than him, when it comes to that. ]

Captain's chair. [ She says immediately, chewing on her lip a moment. ] Med bay. The turbolift. Ooh - the greenhouse!
[ Okay, so she's thought about this a little. A lot. Look, the ship is only so big after so long. ]
no subject
