Well, you've got plenty of company around here. How's that been for you?

[ Weird, Leonard wonders? Being alone for a while sometimes makes it harder to get used to having people around. ]

[ loki contemplates his answer, sloshing the wine back and forth in his glass. ]

I suppose we can't afford to be picky when we're all stuck together.

[ Leonard snorts at that, shaking his head and knocking back his drink. ]

Mm, I'm delighted that I got to meet you, too.

[ loki chuckles at that. ]

Delighted? You have a way with words.

Yeah, I get that all the time.

[ He grins back briefly, filling up his glass again. ]

Always thought you had more of a silver tongue, yourself.

[ loki smiles. ]

Is that an invitation?

[ He raises one eyebrow, then the other, looking him up and down. ]

An invitation to what?

To display my silvertongue for you, of course.

Well, it wasn't my intention— but now you've left me curious.

[ he leans forward with a smirk. ]

Then I should indulge your curiosity.

[ Leonard squints a little. He feels like he's definitely missing something, some turn that this conversation took, and now he's a little lost. ]

Are we still speakin' about the same definition of 'silver tongue'?

[dothelokimotion]

[ for some reason, that makes him laugh. ]

What do you think it means?

[ Don't laugh at him, okay! He's trying to navigate this exchange the best he can. ]

Well, a sweet talker. Persuasive, eloquent, a charmer. Or am I missing something?

Those are correct. But a "silver-tongue" is also derived from magic and spells.

Right. But that also applies to you, with your... magical whatsits, the illusions and such. Still feel like I've chosen the right wording to describe you.

How very pleasant of you, I'm almost surprised.

[ By the tone in his voice and the smile on his face, he likes teasing Loki a bit much. ]

[ his fingers trail over leonard's knuckles briefly. lightly. ]

You don't think I can be pleasant?

[dark_ages]

[ He pauses halfway to a sip, eyes flickering between Loki's eyes and his hand. ]

... actually. You've been nothing but pleasant with me.

I think that simply makes you special.

[ and loki could say the same. leonard is always so . . . gentle with him, in a way loki just isn't used to in his interactions with others. he always feels like barbed wire, sharp and precise. but here, like this, there's no need for it. ]

Special, huh?

[ That makes whatever remained of that teasing tone dissipate entirely. He looks into his glass, his hand moving a little so his fingertips press into the pads of Loki's palm. ]

I don't get that a lot.

[ Not in this context, anyway. Actually, even when people praise him, his work, 'special' isn't a word that ever comes up. ]

[ he smiles. ]

Perhaps you should. There is no harm in it.

[ He takes a decent sip from his glass, lowering it to add. ] You're special too. For the record, just in case you were wondering.
